About freedom..

What is freedom? Is it even possible to be absolutely free inside a human body on Earth? Is freedom a state of mind or an absence of external restrictions? And if it is a state of mind, does it mean that a person in prison can, in fact, feel that he is free?

It seems to me that the real freedom is a state of mind, which cannot depend on anything outside of us. Freedom means allowing ourselves to be what we are deep inside, without fearing the opinions of others and without expecting their approval. Fredom means allowing others to be who they are, and loving them the way they are. Freedom means that I let myself be happy and let others around me be sad if it’s their choice. And vice-versa.

An eagle is a symbol of freedom and courage. Being free requires certain courage and trust towards life. If we put an eagle in a cage, it ceases to be an eagle, because its wings will not carry it anymore, there is no power to fly. An eagle in its natural environment accepts everything offered by life – there is power to fly in both, the sunlight and the storm. It doesn’t complain about weather, rather than enjoying them both, because it knows that therein lies the beauty of life.

I believe that deep in our hearts, we are all eagles, but most of the time we act as birds in a cage. We wait to be fed without thinking that for this deceptive amenity, we have given up the greatest gift on Earth – our freedom. And the cage around us consists of our own fears. Do I find courage and will to let my fears go? Do I want to fly free? What is freedom?
